Amazon.com Product Description The Sony KF-50WE610 Grand WEGA LCD rear-projection television offers an ultra-slim, lightweight tabletop design that's perfect for any home or apartment. It features a wide range of audio and video inputs, native 1386 x 788 resolution, a DVI connection for an HDTV tuner, a 3D digital comb filter, and a Memory Stick slot. It has a built-in 181-chanel NTSC tuner, and Sony's Digital Reality Creation MultiFunction feature upconverts the analog NTSC signals to near-HD quality, though you'll need a separate HDTV tuner to receive high-definition broadcasts. The KV-32HS510 set has a native 1386 x 788 pixel resolution and is compatible with the 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i formats. The KF-50WE610's Sony WEGA engine delivers superb picture quality from any video source by minimizing the signal deterioration caused by digital-to-analog conversion and stabilizing the signal processing. The Digital Reality Creation Multifunction V1 line doubler replaces the NTSC wave form with the near-HD equivalent by digital mapping processing. Enhanced Direct Digital II circuitry increases signal-to-noise ratio when converting the signal from analog to digital. And the Multi-Image Driver maintains the integrity of a converted signal by minimizing image loss in the scaling process, providing the unique Twin-View picture-and-picture feature. This set also features Sony's original Optical Engine, which provides a high-resolution picture from corner to corner across the entire screen. It uses a 100-watt UHP (Ultra High Pressure) lamp, which renders an image with high brightness and can be replaced easily. You can view JPEG images captured from Sony digital cameras and camcorders using the built-in Memory Stick slot. Choose from an index of the images stored on the Memory Stick, or you can run a slideshow of those images. The KF50WE610 has two built-in 15-watt speakers on the side that produce TruSurround SRS audio. Two component-video inputs (both at the rear) allow you to connect an optional HDTV receiver or another source with component video outputs. It also has a DVI input (rear), analog audio output (rear), 3 A/V inputs (2 front, 1 rear), 3 S-video inputs (2 front, 1 rear), and 1 each of S-Link output and input (for connecting other Sony components). What's in the Box Sony KF-50WE610 Grand WEGA LCD monitor, remote control (RM-913), 2 AAA batteries, cleaning cloth, and printed operating instructions.
Product Description Simply press POWER? Brilliant images and astounding sound greet you the moment you turn on Sony's KF-50WE610 50" Grand WEGA LCD Rear Projection TV. Reap the benefits Sony's unique features offer you. The WEGA Engine system maintains the picture in the digital domain, while the Optical Engine delivers high-resolution picture corner-to-corner. Enjoy the stunning detail and clarity enabled by this television's 3.28 million dots resolution. Fixed pixel display and constant light eliminate flicker, Enhanced Memory Stick Media make images and MP3s come to life on screen, and the HDTV monitor produces outstanding picture quality. 50-inches of unprecedented performance... Experience it for yourself.

Sony KF50WE610 Great TV January 27, 2004 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
Just bought this tv after doing some research and looking around. The LCD tvs are just as good as Plasmas. The only reason to get a plasma is if you want to hang it on your ceiling of something. Otherwise this tv is just as good. It is very light and slim. It doesn't have any of the bad things that plasma has like burn ins and it won't be dead after 10 years. with a little tweaking you can get the display perfect. there are many display settings. The tv looks very nice and sleek. The sony stand that was made for the tv is too short for my liking and WAY overpriced. Instead i got a techcraft stand from circuit city. It was also made for this tv. It is very durable and matches the television perfectly. It is half the price and has a weight capacity of 300lbs compared to the sony stands 145lb capacity. here is link for the techcraft stand: http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&qp=0082308310589&bookmark=bookmark_0&oid=86038&catoid=-9798

I am so glad that I didn't get my samsung 61 inch DLP on time when I ordered it months ago. Sony has done it all with this unit, beats DLP by far, and much cheaper than a 50 inch plasma. Features are great, some tweaking with the controls are needed but you will be happy with the end result. Dvds are great and dish network satellite is OK for a s video hook up. I got mine form BB for 2619 for the TV, 450 for stand, and 299 for a 4 yr. warranty. Hope this helps you out.
5 months and running strong July 14, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I received the set in early March, after waiting for SONY to correct the circuitry problems. It has been working superbly since that time (5 months). No issues with any aspect of its function. Exceptional picture quality in HD and with DVD's. Comparable picture and cheaper than plasma. I dont recommend the SONY stand since it has shelves which are too narrow to accomodate large sound components.

My experience with this tv has been great. It is extremely easy to work (menu, picture mode, 2 tuner pip, memory stick) and looks great! I only have one complaint and that is the fact that the memory stick program can't read mp3's from the memory stick and the tv doesn't provide music for slide shows (some sony tv's do just that). It is still a great tv and I am very happy with my purchase.
Great LCD October 3, 2004 T. Mieras (San Antonio, TX) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this after reviewing all of the available types of large screen televisions. I am not disappointed.
The picture quality is great. Thought not as good as a plasma.
I chose the 50 inch because a 60 inch is just TOO big for the room in which I have this TV.
The setup is easy. Just as described in the owners manual.
One reason I made this purchase, is the weight of the TV. It is relatively light and easy to move. I plan to move this to an outside patio area for parties.
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. No problems so far. Works as advertised.
